Integration for Understanding
means utilizing the different expressive modalities of the arts as a vehicle
for students to work towards and/or demonstrate their knowledge and
understanding of content. Demonstrating knowledge of skeletal structure and
vocabulary in written or verbal form shows that students know the material.
However, as in this example, using the body to move and have an experiential,
kinesthetic understanding of skeletal structure could lead to a fuller, deeper,
and more engaging learning experience.
